The Scoring Activity helps instructors design courses by combining scores from different tasks, creating clear learning paths, and automating progress.
It allows personalized learning, unlocks certificates, and uses simple or detailed scoring methods to evaluate performance and give useful feedback.
How to create a scoring element on Teachfloor?
Go to the curriculum section of the course, where you want to add the scoring element. Click the (+) Add Element button on the left. A list of elements will appear—select the Scoring Element from the options.
Different Settings in Scoring Element
Settings of scoring elements are divided into four major portions:
1. General Settings
(See screenshot below)
In the general settings, you can set the following settings;
Cover Image: Add a cover image to your scoring module to highlight its importance and make it visually appealing.
Name: Choose a clear and descriptive name, such as the lesson title or topic related to the scoring activity.
Description: Use this section to provide details about the scoring activity and any important information learners need before starting.
Resources: Add information about the evaluation process or extra materials learners should review before engaging with the activity.
Display Description on Top: Enable this option to ensure learners see the description and resources before starting the scoring activity.
(See screenshot below)
What the learners should be familiar with or need to have worked on before being able to score themselves. Click on the pre-requirements dropdown and choose from the previous lessons or activities that you want to require. You may add multiple pre-requirement activities.
Moreover, you can also add the scoring activity as your pre-requirements for the certificate element. This will help you filter the eligible students to get the certificate.
3. Visibility Settings
(See screenshot below)
You can set visibility options, making it visible to either;

To specific roles
To specific tags
4. Scoring Settings
This is the core of the scoring element, with the following subsections:
i. Interpolation of Multiple Activities:
This involves combining scores from multiple activities into a single aggregated score. Weights can be adjusted to prioritize certain activities more than others
For example, Add activities to be included in the scoring by clicking + Add Input. Now, select and weigh the important activities in the scoring calculation.
ii. Completion Score vs. Qualitative Score:
The completion score reflects whether the learner has met the minimum threshold to complete the activity (e.g., achieving 50% or above). However, the qualitative score represents detailed performance, offering a nuanced view of the learner's achievements, which may be used for feedback or grading.
In the above image, you can see how easily you can decide the weights of each element you will add to the scoring. For example, you can increase the weight of an assessment twice, than a video element. And, the total will be making 100%.
iii. Completion Threshold:
Set a minimum percentage learners must achieve to mark the activity as "complete."
For example: If the threshold is 50%, a 50% or above score is considered "complete"; below this, it is marked as "failed."
