Hello and welcome to our step-by-step guide for setting Content element into your module on Teachfloor.

🧠 What is the Content Element?

(See screenshot below)

The Content Element in Teachfloor allows instructors to create rich, structured lesson blocks by uploading text, media, and resources. Whether you're designing a fully asynchronous course or supplementing live sessions, this element helps you share learning materials in an organized, user-friendly format.

Use case examples:

  • Sharing PDF guides, worksheets, or eBooks

  • Embedding pre-recorded video lessons

  • Providing written instructions, announcements, or background reading

  • Attaching downloadable assets for learners

šŸ› ļø Step-by-Step: How to Add a Content Element

  1. Navigate to Your Curriculum Page

    • Open the course where you want to insert content.

    • Click the ā€œEditā€ button to access the curriculum builder.

  2. Click (+) Add Element

    • On the left panel, select ā€œ+ Add Elementā€.

    • Scroll to the Assessment Tools section.

    • Click on ā€œContentā€ to add it to your module.

Different settings in the content element

Settings of content element is divided into four major portions:

1. General Settings

(See screenshot below)

Setting

Purpose

Cover Image

Upload an image (800x200px, max 2MB) to visually represent your content block. Ideal for branding or context clues.

Name

Give your content a descriptive title (e.g., ā€œIntro to Growth Marketingā€ or ā€œDownloadable Templatesā€).

Description

Summarize what this content includes and any context learners need. You can use rich formatting, links, and embed images.

Resources

Add attachments (up to 5MB per file) that learners can download—documents, spreadsheets, videos, etc.

Display Description on Top

Enable this toggle to make the Description and Resources visible before the content begins. Useful for setting expectations.

2. Requirements Settings

(See screenshot below)

This section allows you to lock content behind prerequisite activities.

  • How it works:

    • Click the dropdown labeled ā€œRequirementsā€

    • Select one or more prior lessons or tasks that learners must complete before accessing this content

    • You can choose any previously created element

šŸ” This ensures learners follow a logical path and don’t skip ahead.

3. Visibility Settings

(See screenshot below)

Decide who can see this content.

By default, all learners will have access. But you can restrict access based on:

  • āœ… Manually Selected Learners – handpick who can view it

  • šŸ§‘ā€šŸ’¼ Roles – e.g., limit visibility to instructors, TAs, or students

  • šŸ·ļø Tags – segment your learners using tags (like ā€œPremiumā€, ā€œCohort Aā€)

To enable this:

  • Click ā€œ+ Add Ruleā€

  • Choose from the available options

šŸŽÆ This feature is great for adaptive learning paths, special cohorts, or exclusive material.

4. METADATA (Optional)

(See screenshot below)

  • Metadata is used for internal tracking and organization.

  • Click ā€œEdit Metadataā€ to add:

    • Keywords or tags

    • Category types

    • Notes for your team

This doesn’t affect what learners see but helps with content management—especially in courses with many modules.

šŸ‘€ Learner Experience

Once published, here’s what your learners will see:

  • Cover image (if added)

  • Lesson title and description

  • List of downloadable resources

  • Embedded content (text, links, etc.)

At the bottom of the lesson, learners will see a ā€œMark as Completedā€ button.

āœ… This button is essential for progression. If you’ve gated future content with prerequisites, learners must click this to unlock the next step.
