Hello and welcome to our step-by-step guide for setting Multiple Choice Quiz elements into your module on Teachfloor.
š§ What Is the Multiple Choice Quiz Element?
(See screenshot below)
ā
The Multiple Choice Quiz element in Teachfloor allows course creators to build interactive, auto-graded assessments that can:
Check learner understanding
Reinforce key concepts
Provide immediate feedback
Gate progress through your curriculum
This quiz type supports single or multiple correct answers, and is fully customizable with deadlines, reminders, layouts, feedback options, and randomization.
š How to Add a Multiple Choice Quiz
Navigate to the Curriculum page of your course.
Click ā+ Add Elementā on the left sidebar.
From the list of element types, choose āMultiple Choice Quizā.
Once added, click āSettingsā to begin editing the quiz module.
(See screenshot below)
ā
āļø Step 1: Set Up Common Settings
Just like other Teachfloor elements, the Multiple Choice Quiz supports Common Settings, including:
Setting Type | What You Can Configure |
General | Cover image, module name, description, resources |
Requirements | Pre-requisites to unlock the quiz |
Visibility | Which learners can view this quiz |
Metadata | Internal tagging and organization for admins |
š Learn how these work in full detail in our Common Settings Guide.
š§Ŗ Step 2: Configure Quiz-Specific Settings
This section is where the real magic happensāwhere you define how the quiz behaves.
1. šÆ Passing Score (%)
(See screenshot below)
ā
What it does:
This determines the minimum percentage of correct answers a student must achieve to "pass" the quiz.
Why it's important:
This is how you set the benchmark for success. If a learner meets or exceeds this percentage, their attempt will be marked as a success (if youāve chosen "On Quiz Pass" as the completion ruleāmore on that later).
How to use it:
Use the slider to set a score anywhere between 20% and 100%.
Example: If your quiz has 10 questions and you set the score to 70%, learners must answer at least 7 questions correctly to pass.
š Pro Tip: For practice quizzes, you might keep this lower (e.g., 50%). For graded assessments, go higher (e.g., 80ā90%).
ā³ Deadline
(See screenshot below)
ā
If the quiz needs to be completed by a certain date/time, set the deadline here.
This is optional but useful for cohorts and scheduled evaluations.
š Reminders
(See screenshot below)
ā
Enable automatic reminders to notify students before the deadline:
1 hour before
8 hours before
1 day before
You can toggle one or multiple reminders.
ā Mark As Completed
(See screenshot below)
ā
What it does:
Determines when the quiz is marked complete in the student's activity log.
Why it's important:
This affects both progress tracking and curriculum flow. Some elements may depend on the quiz being marked complete before unlocking.
You can choose one of two options:
Option | What It Does |
On Quiz Pass | Student must meet the passing score to complete the quiz |
On Quiz Submit | Completion is based on submission, regardless of score |
š Tip: Use āOn Quiz Passā when you want to gate access to the next module until theyāve demonstrated understanding.
š§Ŗ Validation Timing
(See screenshot below)
ā
Choose when learners see if their answers are right or wrong:
Option | Behavior |
At the End | Feedback is shown after submitting the entire quiz |
On Each Step | Learners see correct/incorrect immediately after each question |
š¢ Hide Indexes
(See screenshot below)
ā
What it does:
Lets you hide the question numbers (e.g., Q1, Q2, etc.) from the student view.
Why itās useful:
Makes the quiz feel less formal
Helps reduce stress for some learners
Creates a smoother story-based quiz experience
š Example: For a more conversational or scenario-based quiz, hiding indexes can improve engagement.
š§ Layout
(See screenshot below)
ā
Choose how questions are displayed:
Option | Display Style |
Vertical | One question per line, with answers below (default) |
Horizontal | Question on the left, answers on the rightāideal for short quizzes |
š Step 3: Add Questions and Answers
(See screenshot below)
ā
Once your quiz settings are ready, itās time to bring your assessment to life by adding questions and answer options.
To get started, click the āEdit Questionsā button. This opens the dedicated quiz builder interface.
Hereās exactly how to use it:
ā Add Your First Question
(See screenshot below)
ā
Click the āWrite Question Hereā field.
Type your questionāmake it clear, concise, and focused on a single concept.
Example: āWhich of the following is a benefit of using Teachfloor for online learning?ā
ā Add Answer Options
(See screenshot below)
ā
Below your question, youāll see empty answer slots labelled āOption.ā
Start typing in your answer choices.
Add as many options as you needāthereās no limit.
Check mark the correct option
By clicking on the bin icon, at the end of each answer tab, you can also delete the options as well, if you want to give only 2, or 3 options.
Then:
Click the checkmark beside the correct answer(s).
You can select one correct answer or multiple correct answers, depending on the question type.
š Tip: If multiple answers are correct, make sure your question reflects that, e.g., āSelect all that apply.ā
š¬ Add Feedback to Answers (Optional but Powerful)
Teachfloor gives you the ability to add feedback to each answer. This is extremely useful for helping learners understand why their choice was right or wrong.
To add feedback:
1. Click āAdd Feedbackā below an answer option.
(See screenshot below)
2. A pop-up will appear with two feedback formats:
Text feedback ā Write an explanation or guidance.
Video feedback ā Upload a short video file (up to 50MB) that explains the concept visually.
(See screenshot below)
ā
3. Learners will see this feedback after they submit their quiz, helping them learn from their answers.
⨠Pro Tip: You can also click the āGenerateā button to use TeachAI to auto-generate feedback for you.
ā Add More Questions
(See screenshot below)
ā
Once your first question is ready:
Click the āAdd Questionā button to create another one.
Repeat the same stepsāenter the question, answer choices, correct answers, and optional feedback.
You can build as many questions as needed to create a comprehensive assessment.
āļø Advanced Quiz Options (For a More Dynamic Experience)
Teachfloor gives you a few powerful tools to customize how your quiz behaves for learners. These features are located in the Options panel of the quiz editor.
š Randomize Questions
(See screenshot below)
ā
Enable this toggle to shuffle the order of questions for each learner.
This ensures students receive the same content but in a different order, reducing the chances of copying.
Great for quizzes taken in group settings.
š Randomize Answers
(See screenshot below)
ā
This setting shuffles the order of answer options for each student on every question.
This helps prevent learners from memorizing answer positions (e.g., āoption A is always rightā).
Works especially well when questions are reused across multiple quizzes.
ā Strikethrough Option (Process of Elimination)
(See screenshot below)
ā
When this is enabled, learners can cross out answers they believe are incorrect.
This is useful for encouraging critical thinking and test-taking strategies.
It doesnāt affect scoringāitās purely for learner convenience.
š„ Bonus: Import Questions via CSV
Already have your quiz written in a spreadsheet?
You can import questions from a CSV file by following our dedicated import format.
(See screenshot below)
š§° Add Tools (Bonus Resources)
(See screenshot below)
Want to enhance your quiz with extra learning tools?
Click āAdd Toolā to:
Embed third-party apps (like YouTube, Desmos, or other tools) directly into the quiz.
Attach files such as PDFs, audio explanations, or infographics for learners to reference.
You can customize the label of each tool (e.g., name it āCalculator,ā āReference Guide,ā or āWatch Tutorialā).
š” Tips for a Great Quiz Experience
Tip | Why It Helps |
Use feedback for each answer | Turn assessment into a learning tool |
Add a short timer to the deadline | Increases focus and reduces procrastination |
Use āOn Each Stepā validation for practice quizzes | Reinforces knowledge during test-taking |
