Hello and welcome to our step-by-step guide for setting tags to learners in your course on Teachfloor.

Tags are like labels used to tell students apart for different reasons. For example, they might be used to identify students who do really well in class, or to give different roles to students when they work together on a project or activity.

How to assign tags?

There are two ways to give out tags, as explained below:

  1. Assigning tags by yourself: You choose the tags for students.

  2. Letting students assign tags in a class activity: Students pick their own tags.

1. Assigning tags by yourself

You can give students different tags based on your own criteria. For example, you might label some as "top performing" or others as needing extra help. Here's how you can do it in just three easy steps:

Step #1

Visit the page for members in the course you chose on your Teachfloor account.

(See screenshot below)

Step #2

In the "members" section, find the student you want to give a tag to. Click on the "edit" button under the row that says "tags" for that student. I've shown where to find this button in the screenshot below.

(See screenshot below)

Step #3

When you click on it, a window will pop up saying "Create new Tag", just like the one you see in the screenshot below. After clicking on it, you can make the tag, give it a name, and even pick a color for it, and create it.

(See screenshots below)

Step #4

After creating it, the new tag will be assigned to the student new selected, and will appeared on the members list.

(See screenshot below)

2. Letting students assign tags in a class activity - Adding tags element

You can allow students to choose their own tags by adding "Tags" element to your course curriculum. This is often used for class projects, where students get to pick a specific role to complete it. But you can use it for other purposes too, if you want.

We have written a detailed guide on how can you add tags element in your course. Click here to read it.
