Element: Submission and Peer Discussion

This is a step-by-step guide for setting the Peer Discussion element into your module or lesson.

Click on (+) Add Element on the left side of the screen. Click Submission and Peer Discussion

Moreover, this is the only activity without a source; the submission is included in the activity itself.

Different Settings of Peer Discussion Assessment

Settings of Peer Discussion assessment are divided into three major portions:


1. General Settings

In the general settings, you can set the following settings;

  • Cover Image - Add a cover image to your Peer Discussion module that will reflect the importance of the Peer Discussion.

  • Name - Give a descriptive name to the Peer Discussion referring to the lessons the quiz is linked to or the topic covered.

  • Description - This space can be used to add details regarding the Peer Discussion and all the information the students might need prior to starting the Peer Discussion.

  • Resources - This space can be used to add details regarding the Peer Discussion and all the information the students might need prior to starting the Peer Discussion.

  • Display Description on Top - Enabling this will allow the students to see the description and resources before the Peer Discussion.

Click on the pre-requirements dropdown and choose from the previous lessons or activities that you want to require. You may add multiple pre-requirement activities.

3. Visibility Settings

You can set visibility options, making it visible to either;

  • Manually selected students

  • To specific roles

  • To specific tags

Peer Discussion Settings

Following are the main settings of peer discussion:

  • N. Peer Reviews: You can select the number of peer reviews

  • Peer Review Instructions: You can select the peer review instruction according to your own.

  • Anonymous: You can also enable this feature in order to hide the peer details who is reviewing.

  • Deadline. The deadline can be set here if the quiz needs to be completed within a certain timeframe.

  • Reminders. If the quiz needs reminders for the deadline, the reminders can be set here.

  • Hide Indexes: You can hide the auto-generated numbering of questions.

  • Edit Questions: By clicking this button, a new window will open where you will add questions, allowing learners to submit in the form of texts or file uploads.

Here, you will write questions for the submission and peer discussion.

Formats to select

Text - You can allow text form submission, where learners will write the answer on the platform and submit it

Below the text, you can see the Required check mark. Marking it will make the text submission compulsory.

File Upload - You can also allow file submission, where learners will upload a file.

You can also mark it as Required and Allow multiple files to upload.

From student account.

Learners will see the Submission and Peer Discussion element as follows;
