Checklist is an element you can add for your learners to mark the things they must do in the course or have completed.

šŸ“Œ What Is the Checklist Element?

The Checklist element is a simple yet powerful way to guide learners through key actions — such as readings, external tasks, course milestones, or even real-life assignments.

Unlike quizzes or submissions, checklists don’t require evaluation. They give learners a sense of progression and clarity over what’s expected of them — all within your course flow.


āž• How to Add a Checklist Element

  1. Go to your course's Curriculum.

  2. Click āž• Add Element on the left.

  3. Choose Checklist from the menu.

✨ You can place the checklist at any point in your course to provide a roadmap or reinforce action steps.

āš™ļø Streamlined Common Settings

As with all elements on Teachfloor, the Checklist module comes with general controls like:

  • General settings

  • Requirements

  • Visibility

  • Metadata

These are covered in detail in our Common Settings Guide for All Elements.

āœ… You only need to configure them once per module.

āœ… Checklist Items — Defining the Core Actions for Learners

The heart of the Checklist Element lies in the individual Checklist Items. These are the actionable steps or tasks that learners must complete, either within the course or externally. Think of this section as your student’s personalized to-do list — one that aligns directly with your learning outcomes.

šŸ› ļø How to Add Checklist Items:

  1. Click ā€œAdd Checklist Itemā€

    • This will open a new row within the checklist editor, where you can begin defining your first task.

  2. Enter One Task per Field

    • Each checklist row is designed to hold a single, clearly defined task. This can range from a reading assignment, a software installation, a discussion prompt, or even a real-world action outside the platform.

    • Example tasks:

      • ā€œRead Chapter 3: Behavioral Economicsā€

      • ā€œInstall the Zoom desktop applicationā€

      • ā€œComplete peer review for Assignment 1ā€

      • ā€œSchedule a 1:1 session with your mentorā€

  3. Click ā€œAdd Checklist Itemā€ Again to Continue

    • For every new task, simply repeat the process — click ā€œAdd Checklist Itemā€ to create a new row, then fill it in.

    • You can add as many items as needed, and reorder them anytime to match your intended learning flow.

When a learner accesses the checklist, they’ll see:

Checklist items are self-marked — learners tick them off once done. No instructor grading or automation is required.
