Hello, and welcome to our step-by-step guide for setting content elements for your module on Teachfloor.

How to create a content element?

When you will come to Curriculum page on the course you want to add a content element, and edit it. You will see a (+) Add Element.

Click on (+) Add Element on the left side of the screen. Scroll down, and come to Assessment Tools section and click Discussion.

Different Settings in the Checklist Element

Settings of Checklist elements are divided into four major portions:

1. General Settings

(See screenshot below)

In the general settings, you can set the following settings;

  • Cover Image - Add a cover image to your embed module that will reflect the importance of the discussion.

  • Name - Give a descriptive name to the Discussion.

  • Description - This space can be used to add details regarding the Discussion and all the information the learners might need before starting the module.

  • Resources - This space can be used to add details regarding the Discussion and all the information the learners might need before starting the module.

  • Display Description on Top - Enabling this will allow the learners to see the description and resources before doing the module.

What the learners should be familiar with or need to have worked on before watching the embed. Click on the pre-requirements dropdown and choose from the previous lessons or activities that you want to require. You may add multiple pre-requirement activities.

3. Visibility Settings

(See screenshot below)

You can set visibility options, making it visible to either;

  • Manually selected learners

  • To specific roles

  • To specific tags

4. Discussion Settings

(See screenshot below)

Discussions, comments, and replies can be made on a topic. Usually, the instructor sets the topic, and learners discuss it. However, learners can also set the topic for their discussion.

So, in this module, we allow both options;

  1. Only the instructor can create topics

  2. Instructors and learners can both create topics

(See screenshot below)

Enabling this button will only allow the instructor to create topics. However, upon disabling, learners can also create topics.

(See screenshot below)

Learner Completion (When Learners Are Allowed To Create Topics)

You will select the number of activities in the discussion module to enable them to mark this activity completed. You can use four options

  • A learner must post at least 1 topic

  • A learner must post at least 1 comment or reply

  • A learner must post 1 topic and 1 comment or reply

  • A learner must port a topic or 1 comment or reply

Note: You can select the number of topics/comments or replies from 1 to as many as you want

(See screenshot below)

Learner Completion (When Learners Are Not Allowed To Create Topics)

When learners are not allowed to create topics, you will left with only one option;

  • A learner must post at least 1 comment or reply

Note: You can select the number of comments or replies from 1 to as many as you want

(See screenshot below)

From Learners Perspective

Here is how the module will look from the learner's perspective. The learner can start a new topic, and comment on the previous topic as well.
