What is SOURCE?

Source connects activities in a learning sequence, ensuring assessments function by linking them to required prior steps.

What is SOURCE in Teachfloor?

The Source is a key linking mechanism in Teachfloor that ensures activities within a sequence are properly connected. It establishes dependencies between different components, ensuring that each step flows logically from the previous one. Without setting up the correct Source, activities might appear disconnected or fail to function as expected.

How SOURCE Works for Different Components?

Each component in a sequence may require a specific Source to function properly.

Here’s how the Source applies to different elements:

Assessment Tools That Require a Source

Each of these tools depends on another activity (such as a Submission) to function correctly. Without a Source, they will not work as expected.

  1. Peer Review (Source: Submission)

    • Requires a submission from learners before peer reviews can be conducted.

    • The Source must be set to the Submission step.

  2. Instructor Review with Rubric (Source: Submission/Can be standalone)

    • Instructors assess student submissions using a rubric.

    • The Source must be set to the Submission step.

  3. Instructor Review with Chat (Source: Submission/Can be standalone)

    • Instructors provide direct feedback via chat on submitted work.

    • The Source must be set to the Submission step.

  4. Feedback Reflection (Source: Peer Review or Instructor Review)

    • Allows learners to reflect on feedback received from peers or instructors.

    • The Source must be set to either Peer Review or Instructor Review so students can view comments.

  5. Self Review (Source: Submission/Can be standalone)

    • Learners review their own work using a feedback rubric.

    • The Source should be linked to a Submission.

  6. Group Submission (Source: Group Formation)

    • A group-based submission activity where teams submit work together.

    • The Source must be set to Group Formation to ensure teams are pre-defined.

  7. Group Review (Source: Group Submission)

    • Groups review the work of other groups.

    • The Source must be linked to Group Submission so reviews are based on submitted work.

  8. Group Feedback Reflection (Source: Group Review)

    • Groups reflect on the feedback they received from other groups.

    • The Source must be set to Group Review to access peer feedback.

Assessment Tools That Do Not Require a Source

These tools function independently and do not need any prior activity to be linked.

    • Create interactive knowledge assessments without requiring prior submissions.

    • Collect feedback and opinions through surveys without dependencies.

    • Custom-designed forms for pre-assessments, project submissions, or feedback collection.

    • Set up learner groups for collaborative activities without needing a prior source.

    • Learners submit text, files, or links and engage in discussions without requiring a linked Peer Review.
